Cox 1738 Some are of Opinion that Natanleod was not the Name of ... Prince, but Nata or Natan only, and that leod signifies a traitor Country, and so Cerdick's Victory over Natan-leod, signifies his Conquest of Prince Natan's Country, which seems still to be preserved in the Town of Netley or Nutley, about which Town it [the battle] seems to have been; and this Place perhaps was a principal Town in it.
